| Backstage contains a plethora of people who make each show possible. For every play, show choir performance, and band and chorus concert there is always volunteer assistance that do all of the little things nobody even thinks about like lighting, curtains, mics, and even background music. If there weren't people who were looking forward to taking their part in the show like the backstage crew, performances wouldn't run as smooth and cleanly as they do. For example, just during the plays there are over 20 people bustling about back stage, in the sound booth, and in the tech booth. Each controlling the vital parts that make each show successful. If there wasn't a tech crew taking care of the curtains it would ruin the illusion that each set was a different chapter of the story. It would look like the characters weren't moving from place to place on the story line but just reciting their lines in the same place. Ruining the overall feel of the entire play. Same goes for the lighting, and sound booth. If the actors couldn't project loud enough then the play would be pointless. If you were unable to hear the lines they were saying then it would resemble an old mute play that was based purely on what you could see. Which nowadays isn't something the directors aim on achieving. Another example would be he volunteers that attend the show choir competitions, and performances. The behind the curtain help is a gift send from God. When you have a costume change that can be barely a minute, you need a much help as you can muster to completely change out of one dress and into a pair of leggings with character shoes still on. Also don't forget there are over 30 people that need to perform that same action in the same amount of time and have to race back on to that stage at their que. These hidden workers also help anybody that may become ill or may have trouble breathing. They are the saviors of the entire show and without them it would be a giant mess. |
